Laser pulses and penetrates the superficial blood vessel. The heat generated from the laser coagulates the blood inside the vessel causing it to collapse and seal. Over the next few weeks, the vessel will disappear and the cells will remove all the blood. The laser treatment allows the delivery of a precise dosage of energy to each blood vessel without injuring any nearby skin surface.
Blood vessel treatments on the face require the use of a green light laser. Once the vessels are targeted with the laser, the vessel wall collapses and are absorbed by the body. Generally 2-3 treatments will be needed 4 weeks apart. The treatment area is red initially but this resolves within a few hours. Rarely a bruise may result but generally there are minimal side effects. Make up can be applied immediately after the treatment.
